Connecting Mastodon

How to connect your Mastodon account to Fervae.

Mastodon is a decentralized social network, which means there are many separate servers (called "instances") running it. Your account lives on a specific instance, like mastodon.social or fosstodon.org. Because of this, Fervae needs to know which instance you're on before it can connect.

Steps

  1. In Fervae, go to Settings → Brands & Accounts and click Connect next to Mastodon.
  2. Enter your instance URL (e.g., mastodon.social, fosstodon.org, or whichever server your account is on).
  3. You'll be taken to your instance's authorization page. Log in and approve the permissions.
  4. You'll be redirected back to Fervae.
Not sure which instance you're on?

Look at your Mastodon username. It follows the format @yourname@instance.url. The part after the second @ is your instance.
