Connecting Social Accounts

How to link your social media accounts so you can post from Fervae.

Why do I need to connect accounts?

Fervae can publish posts to your social media accounts on your behalf, but it needs your permission first. When you "connect" an account, you're authorizing Fervae to post, read comments, and track engagement for that account. Fervae never sees or stores your password.

How to connect an account

  1. Go to Settings (click your avatar in the top-right corner).
  2. Click Brands & Accounts.
  3. Find the platform you want to connect and click Connect.
  4. You'll be taken to that platform's website where you'll log in and grant permission.
  5. Once you approve, you'll be redirected back to Fervae automatically.
What is OAuth?

This process is called "OAuth" (you don't need to remember that). It's the same secure method used when you sign into a website with "Sign in with Google." The key point is that Fervae never has your password.

Supported platforms

Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, and Mastodon.

Instagram and Facebook require extra setup

Both are owned by Meta. You'll need:

  • An Instagram account set to Professional mode (either Business or Creator). You can switch this in Instagram's settings for free.
  • That Instagram account linked to a Facebook Page. Even if you don't actively use Facebook, Meta requires this.

When connecting, make sure you grant permission for both Instagram and the linked Facebook Page.

Managing your accounts

After connecting, you can:

  • See all your connected accounts and whether they're active.
  • Turn accounts on or off if you want to temporarily stop posting to one.
  • Reconnect an account if the connection expires. This can happen after password changes.

What are Brands?

Brands are a way to group your accounts. If you manage social media for yourself and for your organization, you'd have two brands, each with its own set of connected accounts. This keeps things organized when you're composing posts.
